Your Blog Needs A Starting Point | VapvaruN

Am I one of the only few Bloggers that realizes that almost every blog should have a starting point?

When I implemented a starting point within my blog, my email sign ups went from 1 to 2 a week, to 3 to 5 sign ups a day. My bounce rate went from 80% to 50%.

If your blog doesn’t have a starting point, you’re missing out on subscribers, along with some big time dollar.

Almost Every Blog Needs a Starting Point.

It’s extremely important for almost every blog to have a clear starting point. Although this strategy may not apply to news blogs, every other type of blog should have a place for newbies to begin their journey.

The key of your blog is to help people get from where they are to where they want to be.

Newbies can’t get from Point A to Point … Read More »

GetComparisons: A Tale Of The Tape For Anything | VapvaruN

Nexus S or iPhone? Kindle Fire or iPad? Samsung TV or LG TV? When people try to make such decisions, they usually look for as much data as possible so they can compare choices. For many gadgets, that’s relatively easy because you can compare similar specs such as CPU speed, RAM, screen size, etc. But what about for everything else? That’s what the startup GetComparisons is going after.

They aim to be the “Epinions for comparisons,” founder Akshay Arabolu says. The service is all about gathering user-written product reviews and formatting them in such a way that it’s easy to compare things. While a service like gdgt does a great job of this for gadgets, Arabolu found a pain point in trying to figure out if he should use WordPress or Tumblr for blogging. So that’s the service … Read More »

Video look at AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II | VapvaruN

I’ve been using a review unit of this Google Android smartphone for several days and have plenty of impressions to share. I’ll have a full written review soon, but for now, here’s an early video look at AT&T’s version of Samsung’s best-selling smartphone to date.

My favorite feature so far is the Super AMOLED Plus display. Even though it’s only 800×480 resolution, a number of folks I showed it to thought the display resolution rivaled the iPhone 4, due to the vivid, bright colors. Yes, the 4.3-inch display is big, but the thin nature of the smartphone makes it “feel” smaller and I have no problems putting the handset in a front pocket.

A dual-core 1.2 GHz processor powers Android 2.3.4 quite nicely; as you can see in the video, switching between tasks is fast. Image quality for still pictures is excellent … Read More »

Hipmunk’s mascot with an Android spin

Hipmunk has finally brought its travel search application to the Android operating system, with a brand new mobile app that will hit the Android marketplace Thursday.

Hipmunk for Android, which for now only facilitates flight searches, is impressive because it retains all the slickness of the company’s existing web and mobile offerings. That’s no small feat for an app made for Android, an operating system that generally takes a backseat to Apple’s iOS when it comes to user interface design.

I played around with the new app at Hipmunk’s San Francisco headquarters this week, and it’s a pleasure to use. For lack of a better comparison,  the experience is just as smooth as using an iPhone or iPad. That’s not an accident, said Hipmunk’s Android developer Ryan Oldenburg, who worked … Read More »
